There is something inherently entrancing to me about post black metal and doom metal, and part of this is the raw intellectual challenge that this kind of music represents. Slow Worm are artists of the highest caliber creating sonic worlds that require you to sit back and spin their new record, The Inverse Ascent, again and again to fully understand. Slow Worm have the sort of artistic mindset that raises them above many of their peers simply because they are crafting tunes that could be described as beautiful music. Utterly ethereal and speaking to the human condition these guys, while they could do with some polishing, clearly have what it takes to be at the top of the genre next to dudes like Downfall of Gaia. The fact of the matter is that Slow Worm have caught my attention because of their wonderfully intelligent sound that will leave you stroking your chin and shaking your body in honor of the triumph that is The Inverse Ascent.
