I've always said, you know what you're going to get with a band name like Dying Fetus. The band is back now after a far too long five year break with one of their strongest and grooviest releases to date. An album that emphasises the bands classic stomp with top notch production, endless meedly solos and John Gallagher sounding better than ever Wrong One To Fuck With is a blast to listen too and indicative of all the great stuff that Dying Fetus has been able to conjure up in their nearly quarter century of being a band.
There is something strangely addictive about what Dying Fetus do. Wrong One To Fuck With touches on all of the bands traditional tropes with gory lyrics, odes to inner strength and a bitter disgust with the bullshit of global politics. The raw anger exhuded on this record is at times terrifying, speaking to what a monolithic force Dying Fetus has managed to be. As much as it might have been frustrating to wait half a decade to hear more from this Baltimore death metal crew this record is leaps and bounds ahead of Reign Supreme a record which many fans viewed as the groups best to date. Delving into all they have to offer here is a pleasure.
Covered in blood, unafraid to show off and swaggering with their trademark stomp you know even from the first that Dying Fetus are masters of their craft. Of course, they don't stay tied in to the traditional slam stereotypes and we get a sense that the band is still ushing for new depths of brutality. Still - if you're a long time Dying Fetus fan this record has everything that you would have wanted. It's an album that is hard to put down and which revels in the filth, so all I can say to you is hop on in, the blood is fine!
