Siberian Meat Grinder - Metal Bear Stomp

Man, sometimes with this blog I stumble upon the darndest things, this weeks weird offering comes from Siberian Meat Grinder who's latest offering Metal Bear Stomp feels like a more nu metal influenced Municipal Waste. With palpable grooves, devastating rhythms and balls out sonic assault Siberian Meat Grinder prove that they are the be all and end all of Russian thrash metal. There is something undeniably fun about this record that has me excited to dig in, not just to this album but the bands discography as a whole.

Metal Bear Stomp captures the imagination not just because it's a very articulately conceived gem of a thrash metal record but because it has a unique vibe that is wholly its own. The riffs, while frequently playing off the same tropes time and time again still have an undeniable sense of fun to them. Clearly these dudes grew up listening to Municipal Waste, Vio-Lence and other bands of that ilk. The metal thrashing mad insanity of Siberian Meat Grinder is strangely endearing. They have a sense of humor that can't help but draw you back and the songwriting is more than enough to make you want to stay.

It's rare to find a thrash band who understand the sillier side of the genre as well as Siberian Meat Grinder do without compromising the power of the music and keeping up high quality tunes. Metal Bear Stomp is an offering that reflects the bands history but also which hints at bold new futures and reminds us time and time again why we fell in love with this music in the first place. A band who truly understand the idioms of the genre and aren't afraid to bring in their own vision Siberian Meat Grinder might as well be the future.
