Scumripper - All Veins Blazing

11 tracks of punky metal delivered with a sneer is exactly what I needed on my Tuesday morning. The 20 minute opus from Scumripper, appropriately entitled, All Veins Blazing is a masterful and bile spitting effort. Though the record is very short, it acts as a sort of message of intent. It speaks not just to what makes this band great, but also the magic of the type of music that their label, Hells Headbangers specializes in. There is an inherent swagger here that will keep you entranced as you delve into the madness.

This is an addictive listen. Records that come across this ADD often are. the gnashing of teeth that defines the vocal style and the blazing guitars only serve to add to the twisted mythos that Scumripper paint here. All Veins Blazing is a wonderfully violent and frequently oppressive listen. This is the sound of smoke drenched basement shows and nose-beer huffing crust punks. It's hard hitting and fast. The fact that the band is a power trio only serves to add to the magic. There is a certain space to the record that is permitted by the minimal instrumentation. It makes even the most overwrought moments feel as if they are rubbing a raw nerve.

If you love the world of punk houses and gutter metal turned up way too loud then All Veins Blazing is for you. An inherently scummy record, Scumripper are going for the throat with every track here. Playing on the tropes of bands like Repulsion, Abscess and even Autopsy this is death n roll for the modern age. All Veins Blazing is a fun listen that, if you have any sort of punk history, will take you right back to your roots. Scumripper understand the ethos that I for one grew up in and for that I find them endlessly addictive.
