Impiety - Versus All Gods

It's crazy to think that Impiety have been out there drawing the blood of the innocent for thirty years. For me personally it's crazy to think that it was 10  years ago that I first heard about this band and was wowed by what the Singapore metal scene had to offer. Now the band is back with Versus All Gods, a gloriously adversarial blackened death metal opus. Clocking in at a little under 40 minutes this is one of Impiety's most intense releases in a long time. It's stunning to see them bringing the rage this far into their careers.

The unholy madness of Versus All Gods is delectable. As the bands legendary frontman Shyaithan spits his way through these ten bloodthirsty tracks it becomes increasingly clear that the bands madness has only increased with time. I for one had been a bit concerned. It's been eight years since the last full length from this unholy legion. Though yes there have been split and compilation appearances in the interim, it's exciting to see that Impiety still know how to crack skulls across the course of an entire record. There is so much to sink your teeth into here and the Blasphemy-inspired madness remains fresh, decades into the bands career.

When it comes down to it there are very few bands that can maintain the raw purity of emotion that Impiety have. To sustain this level of vile insanity reflects on the inherent torment of the artists. The sense of swagger that permeates Versus All Gods is thus well merited, a reminder that there is a reason Singapore extreme metal is so legendary, and these guys are a huge part of that legacy. A potent offering that hopefully indicates a new round of activity from these masters, Impiety are here for your skull.
