Midnight Odyssey - Biolume Part 2: The Golden Orb

Midnight Odyssey first came across my radar a little while ago with their stunning relesae, Biolume Part 1: In Tartarean Chains. I am thrilled to report that their new record, Biolume Part 2: The Golden Orb has only built on and improved upon their last album. The bands mix of influences, ranging from Summoning to Bathory by way of epic metal like Scald or Solstice is truly exciting and makes for a record that is bombastic and powerful. Biolume Part 2: The Golden Orb is going to leave you scraping your jaw off the ground, utterly enamored with what they have crafted.

There are so many fascinating layers to Midnight Odyssey that I think make this record an intensely rewarding listen. The album plays out over nearly two hours, and wihle this record probably would have been better presented as a two part release then this monster, it's absolutely worth investing the time into. While some moments certainly have some fat that could have been trimmed, as a general rule, Biolume Part 2: The Golden Orb more than merits its run time and will drag listeners through an enchanted soundscape full of unique twists and turns which continually prove just how good these guys are at making atmospheric black metal.

Biolume Part 2: The Golden Orb is a pleasure to sink your teeth into. It's a record that has everything from brash horns to epic vocals both sung and growled. The overarching atmospheres the band eagerly paints are stunners and their ability to continually drive towards bold new futures is delightful. This is a record that shows a top level songwriter executing a stunning concept album that can't help but to leave you dragging your jaw off the floor. There is so much to unpack here and it's even more delectable with every passing minute.

Pre-order the album!
