Majestic Downfall - Aorta

I am increasingly enamored with the South American death-doom scene. Majestic Downfall are another great example of the genre at its finest. The 6th full length from these Mexican masters, Aorta is a dynamic and powerful offering. It speaks to the crushing might of the band and hints at much more to come. There are so many exciting and promising layers behind this album that make it a real delight to sink your teeth into. The breadth of these compositions is impressive and the production is stellar, it's a real testament to just how good the genre can be.

With layers upon layers to unpack it's hard not to be mesmerized by what Aorta conjures up. Chunky guitar melodies and devastating power chords come together to take the listener on an epic and powerful journey. Aorta leaves listeners excited for what more is to come and hinting at new layers for the band to unpack. Majestic Downfall consistently prove that they are among the best of the best. As the handful of press on them around the internet attests, these guys are one of the great hidden gems of Mexican metal and shine as a pinnacle in the death doom scene. It's hard not to be impressed by this offering.

Aorta excites listeners with the progressive poetry behind their music. The album closer "Become Eternal" is a stunning 19 minute journey that clearly takes the listeners to a new space. There is simply so much to revel in, so much pure volume to embrace and so many places that the music can go next. Majestic Downfall take it to the next level on this pure masterpiece and those who don't get it probably were never death doom fans in the first place. It's been a long time since I've heard a death doom record this triumphant and powerful. I love it.
