Passéisme is an excellent Russian black metal band coming out on the ever vaunted Antiq. Their unique brand of black metal is exciting and potent - just the sort of stuff that captures the imagination and drives listeners to madness. There is a really wonderful sense of fury behind their new record Eminence with its bellowed vocals and fierce guitars. Toss in some thundering drums and you start to get a sense for just how hectic Eminence can be. It's a thrilling listen and one that will throw you right into the pit to get your face melted off.
Eminence will really strike you with its vocal delivery. Like I said - the screams are much more on the bellowed side of black metal. It's kind of awesome to sink your teeth into the breadth of what they have crafted here. The guitar tone is also especially striking. It's really delightful experiencing the fierce execution of a track like 'Chant For Parade'. It speaks to the flamethrowing madness that helps to define all that Eminence is about. Embracing the blazing fury of these songs is certain to leave devour listeners in awe and begging for more. It's the sort of off kilter Russian black metal that made so many of us fall in love with the genre in the first place.
There is a certain blazing fury that only the best black metal really has. Fortunately, Passéisme bring it in spade. The go for the throat intensity of these songs and their unapologetic predilection for evil is delightful. Eminence revels in its twisted revelry, ever driving towards new blasphemies and dragging the listener with them straight into hell. Revel in the crazed offerings here and fall once more into the pit. You will relish the twisted poetry and come forth once more marked by the burning power of this music for better or for worse.
