Emerging from Belarus comes one of the wonderfully sickest black metal bands I have heard all year, Khandra. Their debut album, All Occupied By Sole Death is due out in a few weeks on Season of Mist and it is an absolute scorcher. This is a terrifying and potent record, full of blasphemous twists and turns and an overarching vision of madness that serves to provide some truly demented and weirdly addictive music from the band. This is a tormented offering and one that will keep you in fear, even as the night closes in around you.
This record is fierce and undeniably vicious. The go for the throat mentality on a track like album opener 'Irrigating Lethal Acres With Blood' is unforgettable and gets right to the core of what good black metal should be. All Occupied By Sole Death excites with the depth of its execution and the demented vision that fuels these tracks. There is a bloodthirstiness behind this band that I feel many modern black metal acts lack. It makes for compelling listening from a band who seem dedicated to tormenting listeners and unveiling the darkest reaches of the soul. The devilish might behind what is going on here will leave you utterly enraptured.
All Occupied By Sole Death is an exciting and twisted offering. It's a record that eagerly taunts the listener and proves that they are among the best to be doing it today. This is black metal the way it was meant to be executed, at a million miles an hour and with an overarching sense of torment. The crushing power behind this record is exciting and it's a delight to really immerse yourself in the blasphemies within. Unveil the darkness, embrace the hatred and find yourself deep in the demented world of Khandra. You won't regret it.
