Temple Of Void - Summoning The Slayer

Summoning The Slayer, when paired with album artwork like Temple Of Void have chosen quickly shows listeners what you are getting into. The death doom magic of Temple Of Void has been taken to a whole new level on this new full length, and getting lost in the twisted, gloriously brutal melodies that have been unleashed here is guaranteed to keep listeners enthralled with the bleak vision that they have been crafting for so many years. This is a truly beautiful record and one that has minor key melodies to keep even the most hardened of fans in awe.

There is a potent crush that fuels Temple Of The Void throughout this record and which really shines on tracks like "Engulfed" where the ominous chug of the bottom end speaks to the inherent darkness and sorrowful vision that has come to define this band. It's a delight to really let yourself get lost in the burning misery of this offering and the suffocating production. Summoning The Slayer is an absolute beast of an offering and letting yourself lap up the blood is a privilege of which only truly devout metalheads are worthy. Temple Of Void clearly spent a lot of time in the studio during the pandemic and were able to come out with something truly great.

Temple Of Void are a thrilling sonic force any way you slice it. They play death doom in a way that few of their peers would dare, pushing towards dizzy new heights and never blinded by the lights. Summoning The Slayer is going to make you suffocate even as they turn the volume up ever higher. This is the sort of wonderfully heavy, thrilling and gloriously loud record that death doom fans across the world long  for. It's a terrifying offering and one that will keep all of us coming back, ever more thrilled for what's coming next.
