Finnish black metal has long held a special place in my heart. Ondfodt add to this legacy of misery with Det Österbottniska Mörkret a violent little offering on the wonderful Black Lion Records. This record shines with its blasting drums and barrage of hyper speed black metal riffs, exactly the sort of thing that a devotee of the underground is searching for as they wander across the Finnish wastes.
It's hard not to be impressed with the intensity of what Ondfodt are delivering here. Their sound is powerful and addictive, a masterclass in Finnish black metal, nodding to their influences and proving their desire to go beyond.
