Incantation - Unholy Deification

For a decade now, and like clockwork, Incantation have run a new album every three years. And every three years they somehow seem to get a little bit better and bring their music to a whole new level. Thirty four years into the carnage known as Incantation the band finds triumphant new ways to blasphemy. Unholy Deification just keeps the ball rolling, constantly louder, faster, harder and stronger. It's death metal done right, by death metal addicts for death metal addicts, and turning away from the path becomes even harder.

Unholy Deification is a skull cracker of the sort we have come to expect from Incantation. The burly riffs, ferociously blasting drums and glorious gutturals speak to a whole new level of sonic genocide. Incantation consistently and seamlessly build upon what has come before and their dark vision. The performances here don't stray from the twisted path that has come to shape so much of what Incantation is about. I mean just look at the album art, if that alone isn't enough to pull you into the void of Incantation's creation then I don't know what is. They're here and they're pissed and it's only going to keep getting louder and angrier.

This is an album that grinds forward time and time again, dragging listeners into the pit and reminding us exactly why we all got into death metal in the first place. Incantation understand what they're good at and consistently, unflinchingly deliver. If you too are a slave to the underground and addicted to the gurgling blasphemies that lie beneath you're going to be obsessed with this. Tracks like "Chalice (Vessel Consanguineous) are proof positive of just how good Incantation remain, masters of the old guard able to crack skulls with the new blood.
