Jordsjuk are crushers. They play blazing, gritty and unrepentant black metal done in the grand Norwegian style. Featuring members of Djevel, Nordjevel, Urgehal and Koldbrann the pedigree is there, but more importantly the music is too. Jordsjuk is a force and their debut EP, Ratner Pa Rot is compelling, unrelenting and crushing black metal. For those of us looking for ab and who get to the spirit of the genre and lean in to so many of the twisted tropes of what this music can be, then there are few better options in the modern scene. Capturing everything from the frozen atmospheres of the North to the bitter anger that fuels so much of the genre in an EP barely over ten minutes long seems like an impossible task, but Jordsjuk pull it off with aplomb. This is a band to watch.
