So some of you might remember my previews of the upcoming Paris France Metal Festival. And I must say I am very excited to be going. So I compiled a list of top 5 reasons to go!
5. Divan du Monde has KILLER sound
This venue has some of the sickest acoustics that I have ever heard. Every time I have attended an event there the quality of the sound blew me away! Given the variety of bands and styles its good that we have a venue that can accomodate them all.
4. The pit will be CRAAAZY.
Divan du Monde is my personal favorite venue to have circle pits in because, given the shape of the bottom floor you will constantly be crashing off the walls and into other moshers. Also, given the bands performing Friday night I think that everyone in the pit will get to stage dive multiple times!
3. The price
Asides from the guests there will be more than 20 bands on the bill. That comes out to less than 4 euros per band if you buy the three day pass! Given that to normally see one of these bands it might cost upwards of 20 euros you're getting a major deal!
2.You can see the progenitors of French metal.
While some of you might not know all of the bands on the bill (I sure didn't) if you do a little you will be amazed to find out that these guys broke onto the scene at the same time that the gods of glam and thrash were doing their thing in LA. In many ways they are just as innovative aas the guys from LA.
1. Its a multi-day event
The best part of PMFF is that its a multi day event. So even if you don't like the bands on the bill one night you can surely fund some good stuff on another. And given the cheap price and crazy pit it will definitely be worth it. So go to PMFF french metallers! GO AND MOSH!

Paris Metal France Festival Preview 3

So now we arrive at the preview for the final night of the Paris Metal France Festival. With a few dedication bands and a few more French metal legends this should prove to be a thrilling conclusion to a stellar festival. The final evenings festivities will cover performances from old school thrash bands, power metal acts and even the band often thought of as the french Motorhead. Some of these bands have made incredible contributions to French Metal, others are only just starting out. This should create an interesting dichotomy in the acts. Yet with what is overall a nice combination of old and new this final evening could very well be the best!
The first act on the bill is Showtime, a revival glam band who have a singer who really knows how to strut his stuff. He has a stellar voice and I think with him as the frontman these guys should really get the crowd fired up.
Shoeilager play primarily heavy classic rock type songs. Very much in the NWOBHM vein they should start to make things interesting. It seems like the guys in this band have a good idea as to how the genre works and will start to make people move.
Thrashback should start to make things interesting with their own brand of revival thrash metal that should call to mind the glory days of Exodus. I'm really hoping to get a pit started here, but even if there isn't their stellar musicianship should be entertainment enough.
Outburst is a female fronted power metal band that should warm the crowd up for the power metal magic that is still to come. I think their Epica type combination of growls and cleans should be fun to see live. They have a bit more bite than Epica so that will just add to the fun.
Then comes Scherzo, a french band from 1985 with close ties with Dygitals (who are also on the bill) Seeing them will be like a piece of living history. According to their page on France Metal Museum they will have a new singer who should blow us away!
Hurlement is like the french response to Manowar. These guys are stellar and extremely manly. Their over the top stage antics should be fun to watch and really usher in the last few major headlining acts on the bill. Their should be a lot of headbanging going onwhen they play their classic "Mercenaire".
Still Square is a band straight from 1981. They haven't lost any of their fire and their music is still wild and rambunctious. Yet, in many ways they are as important to the scene as Ocean. These guys really made French Metal into what it is today and will be cool to see live.
Heavenly is an awesome power metal act very much in the vein of Helloween. This band is a forgotten great. Yet I think they still have a big enough reputation to pull in quite a few fans. With a new album just out it'll be cool to see the new songs alongside old classics.
Finally we have the big boys, ADX the french answer to Motorhead. With a hard and heavy sound very much inspired by the blues these guys know heavy metal. I think their final set will be fiery and bring the crowd to explode!
In conclusion, The final night of Paris Metal France will be epic. There are bands from all parts of the history of french metal and seeing them all will be like coming full circle from old to new. Phil (the organizer) has done a truly stellar job in getting these bands to come together in what promises to be a great festival. So go check out the bands on the roster and buy your ticket!

Paris Metal France Festival Preview Part 2
So here is my second preview of the Paris Metal France Festival coming up in January. Todays preview is of the second night of the festival. This is going to be a tribute to the golden oldies of the genre. With appearances from legends of french metal like Ocean and Blaspheme this will be a night to remember! I have to say again that Phil (the organiser) really knows how to attract some truly fantastic bands to this event. I think that the second evening will see a lot more heads banging instead of bodies moshing, but it should still be pretty metal!
Asides from the guests, the first band on the set list is Morglbl eclectic jazz metal musicians. Their music is complex and weird. Yet I think it will be fun to see live. Next up is Pink Rose pioneers of French glam. Their set promises to be flashy, fabulous and very fun. After them comes Dygitals, another old classic French band whose brand of exciting NWOBHM should be cool to see live. I can't wait to hear some of those solos under Divan Du Monde's great sound system. Tears are one of the founders of French Glam. Their influence on that scene was huge and seeing them will be living history! Ocean (a band I've seen live before) opened up for Iron Maiden and AC/DC back in the day. They are probably my favorite classic french metal band and with a fiery lead singer they know how to deliver live. Blaspheme are a very NWOBHMy band who helped pioneer the scene. They are a bit older than most of the other bands on the bill and definitely will be cool live. Finally, the headliner, appropriately named Headline are awesome french prog-metallers who could be called the French Dream Theater. They have years of experience and will surely bring the house down.
To wrap up, this should be a who's who of classic French Metal. The music will be fairly heavy and you'll get to see some living history. A lot of these bands have only recently reunited and it will be cool to see them playing together after so long. It's bands like these who created the Paris underground and all French metalheads owe something to them. So come on down to Paris the 12th of January and find out how the whole French scene got started. It will be a glorious evening when old legends will once more dominate their city!

Paris Metal France Festival V Preview 1

So today I am proud to introduce one of the great French metal festivals. Paris France Metal Fest is in its fifth edition come 2013. A festival known for hosting ONLY French bands its impressive to see the talent that this festivals organiser has been able to attract. This is probably the biggest festival IN Paris and it takes place at one of its most storied venues, La Divan du Monde. (A great venue for moshing by the way) In todays installment I plan on giving you guys a rundown of the venue and the acts that will be playing on the first night of the show. Already planned as a night of stage diving, moshing and madness I'm really psyched.
Le Divan Du Monde is an absolutely stellar venue. I have attended several shows their ranging from blues to pummeling deathcore. It is venue that can do it all and that has a lot of history in it. It was once called it "The biggest of Paris's small concert halls". I must tell you, this is possibly my favorite venue of all time. With a luxurious balcony you can still check out the show even if you don't want to be in the pit. On a good night the entire bottom floor is moshing and going crazy. Stage divers are common and add a lot of atmosphere at metal shows. During calmer moments you're still right there seeing all the action. This is a truly magnificent venue!
The bands on the first night of the show are mostly in the early death metal vein. Asides from the special guests there are going to be quite a few sick bands on this bill. 6:33 and Arno Strobl are a younger band who are exploding on the local scene. I think it will be cool to see them live! Agressive Agricultor is a classic French thrash band who should be able to get a pit started fast. Mercyless is a BRILLIANT death metal band who have only recently gotten back together. With a knew album in the work I'm guessing that they will rip my face off! No Return is one of the more well known bands on the bill. They will drop a slab of brutality onto the crowd and knock you off your feet! Finally, two classic bands who I am realy looking forward to seeing are Loudblast and Agressor, pioneers of French thrash metal! These bands are classic and will be an excellent end to the night. Their contribution to French metal has been positively enormous and seeing them should be a very memorable experience.
To conclude on this PMFF preview I want to say that I hope you're excited for a solid night of headbanging madness. This will be a memorable night for all and we'll get to see many a classic act. I sincerely hope you consider coming to this event. Their will be a great venue filled with hundreds of crazy moshers. Meanwhile the music will be loud and brutal, just how we like it! So come one and all to an event that will be talked about by metalheads in Paris and throughout Europe for years to come.
